SEBRING, FLA. – The Sun ‘n Lake of Sebring Improvement District has a new volunteer group – The Community Beautification Committee. This group of volunteer residents teamed up with Choice Environmental, Highlands County’s new contracted waste company, and Highlands County to kick off the first in a series of clean up days in Sun ‘n Lake on October 23.
Thirty-eight volunteers from four to eight-four years old set out on in golf carts and vehicles to gather litter and bundle vegetation in several neighborhoods. This was the first community clean up event in the county to partner with Choice Environmental Services since they were awarded the Highlands County contract for waste management services.
The group completed a successful morning, followed by a cook out at the Community Center. The Clean Up Days are one of several initiatives to build community pride in Sun ‘n Lake. Landscape and street pole banners on the boulevard, community directional signs, and holiday lights and contest are additional goals in the community-wide efforts.
